SC to hear plea seeking release of film ‘Jhund’ on OTT platform tomorrow

New Delhi [India], Might 4 (ANI): The Supreme Courtroom on Wednesday agreed to listen to on Might 5 a plea difficult the Telangana Excessive Courtroom order staying the proposed launch of Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Hindi film ‘Jhund’ on the Over the High (OTT) platform on Might 6.

A bench of Chief Justice NV Ramana and Justices Krishna Murari and Hima Kohli posted the matter for listening to tomorrow after senior advocate CA Sundaram sought pressing itemizing of the case.

Sundaram instructed the bench that the movie, which was earlier launched in theatres on March 4, is scheduled to be launched on the OTT platform and the Excessive Courtroom’s establishment order is coming in between.

He mentioned the problem to the film had already been dismissed earlier.

On April 29, the Excessive Courtroom in its interim order had ordered the established order regarding the discharge of the film on OTT platforms.

The order was handed on the plea filed by Hyderabad-based filmmaker Nandi Chinni Kumar who alleged copyright violation by the makers of ‘Jhund’.

Earlier, Kumar had sought an injunction towards the theatre launch of the movie, alleging breach of the phrases of the settlement in an earlier case towards the filmmakers, nevertheless, the trial court docket declined the plea to recall the settlement and allowed the movie to be launched in theatres.

Thereafter, the movie was launched in theatres on March 4. Kumar then approached the Excessive Courtroom difficult the trial court docket’s order and on April 29, the interim order was handed.
