Why My Healthy Isn’t Your Healthy

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Nature Made for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

I can’t tell you how often I get asked to define the term “healthy.” I If you look up healthy in the Webster (this is a dictionary, BTW) the definition is as followed:

“Beneficial to one’s physical, mental, or emotional state : conducive to health.”

I know that this definition of healthy is pretty vague, but what I love about it is that it suggests that everyone has a unique sense of healthy and I 100% believe in this.

Today I am partnering with Nature Made on their Healthy Together campaign to talk all things vitamins and to share my thoughts on why my healthy isn’t your healthy!

First things first! Let’s talk supplements.

I’m 100% positive you’ve seen Nature Made at the pharmacy before because they’re everywhere! Specifically here in Minneapolis, you can find them at CVS, Walgreens, and Target. Nature Made is  I am excited to share my whole supplement routine coming up in a few months but today I wanted to share more about Nature Made, the supplement brand that I use, and specifically, the Multi-Vitamin.

Multi For Her

What I love about Nature Made’s Multi for Her, is that it’s not specific to one health benefit, but many! So much good stuff is packed into one pill or gummy. Why should you take a multivitamin even if you’re already a healthy eater and getting nutrients from food? That’s a great question and one I asked myself! The answer is, not every day is as balanced as we’d like it to be and a multivitamin ensures you’re getting all the good stuff no matter what. Nature Made’s Multi for Her has 23 key nutrients specifically designed for female health concerns such as: bone, heart, and reproductive health†. Some of the key nutrients in the Multi for Her are:

  • Folic acid — an important B vitamin for women of childbearing age

  • 100% daily value of iron — an important mineral for premenopausal women

  • Vitamin D — provides support for bone, teeth, muscle, and immune health†

  • Calcium — helps build and support strong bones†

  • Vitamins A, C, and E

I go back and forth between the Multi for Her gummies and pill-form but have taken both before. In a few weeks, I am going to be chatting more about my entire supplement routine as a whole because I take different supplements for different concerns. Now that I’ve added them up in my head, I take quite a few…so be on the lookout!

Why My Healthy Isn’t Your Healthy

For so long I spent every waking hour comparing myself to the girl next to me. My abs were never as tight, my hair was never as perfect, and my skin was never as bright. I mostly fixated on outward appearance and thought everyone was judging me, but in reality, I was the judging me. Self-comparison and self-love are two things that I continue work on every single day and it feels so good to heal from the inside out.

Let’s go back to the question, what does healthy mean to you? I mentioned above that it’s really hard for me to create a universal definition of the word healthy because it’s so unique to everyone. Remember when I chatted about Whole30 and why it wasn’t right for me? Well, it IS right for a lot of people, however, we all have different pasts, concerns, and goals and Whole30 doesn’t work for me because restrictions and yes/no list are a thing of my unhealthy past. Beer — some people consider beer VERY unhealthy because it’s high in calories, and carbs, and ra ra ra…however, I feel very different about beer in that I love the social aspect and flavors of it. For so long I told myself that alcohol is bad for you and there is absolutely no caloric value so why would I drink it? While it’s totally fine if you don’t drink, I created this horrible relationship with not only alcohol but social situations in general, which in my opinion is worse than alcohol itself. My list goes on and on and on.

This is exactly why my healthy isn’t your healthy. All humans are made up of their own unique DNA. What works for me, doesn’t always work for you. I am the type of person who needs a solid 9 hours of sleep, but you may only need 7 to feel refreshed. In the morning, I crave carbs and coffee and others crave protein and matcha. I love lifting strong and you may love running. It’s taken me years to understand that being me is a beautiful thing. I have finally realized why comparison doesn’t ever work. And, it’s because none of us are the same.

So? What I love about the word healthy is that we all have a choice. We have the choice to do the things that make us feel the best and in my opinion, being you is the best choice you can make when it comes to healthy.

I Can and I Will Momentum Bracelet

I recently got a bracelet that says “I can and I will” made by a designer here in Minneapolis called Momentum and it’s a great reminder that you have the power to be whoever you want to be.
